Infertility in Women and Men Linked to High Cholesterol Levels - Techsonia

A new study has discovered that when both the woman and the man feature high cholesterol levels, they might have problems in conceiving a child.

The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism has published the study today, May 21. The research has also shown that the difficulty in having a baby can even occur when the woman alone has high cholesterol levels. The couples where both the woman and the man have normal cholesterol levels are more likely to have children.

The researchers said that fertility might be seriously impacted by the high cholesterol levels, reducing the chances of pregnancy.

The study took place between 2005 and 2009 and it involved 501 couples from Texas and Michigan. They underwent various blood tests for triglycerides, LDL cholesterol and HDL cholesterol.

The scientists used the fecundability odds ratio to find out how long it will take for a couple to get pregnant and if they are prone to have a baby or not. The study revealed that the women with high cholesterol levels did not have a child during the study.
