Meb Keflezighi became the first American to win the Boston Marathon since 1983 today, finishing the famous race in 2 hours, 8 minutes, 37 seconds.
He held off Wilson Chebet of Kenya by 11 seconds.
Keflezighi, 38, is a former New York City Marathon champion and Olympic medalist.
Once he realized he would not be caught this morning, he made the sign of the cross and pumped his right fist.
Kenyan Rita Jeptoo snagged the win in the women's division for the second straight year with a time of 2:18:57, a course record.
The race, of course, was held just over a year since the horrific Boston Marathon bombing of 2013 that killed four spectators and injured many, many more.
Officials permitted all runners who failed to finish last year as a result of this catastrophe to automatically compete in 2014, brining the total number to over 36,000, an increase of 9,000 from 2013.
