Bird flu detected in Japan - Xinhua

TOKYO, April 13 (Xinhua) -- Two chickens tested positive for avian influenza at a Japanese farm on Sunday, the Agriculture Ministry said.

The deadly H5 virus was detected through genetic testing of six chickens at a farm in Kumamoto Prefecture where 1,100 chickens have died, according to the ministry.

A total of 112,000 chickens would be culled due to the epidemic, which is the first bird flu case in Japan since 2011.
