Microsoft announced that the Surface Pro 3, the successor to last year's Surface Pro 2, is now available for purchase in the United States and Canada through Microsoft retail stores, Microsoft's online store, and retail stores.
Being the first wave of Surface Pro 3 tablets, only the Core i5 versions are available for purchase. Getting the Core i5 version with 128GB of storage will run you $1,000, while doubling the storage brings the price up to $1,300.
Meanwhile, the Core i3 and i7 versions won't be available until August 1. The sole Core i3 version, priced at $800, includes 64GB of storage, while the $1,550 and $1,950 will net you the Core i7 version with 256GB and 512GB of storage, respectively. As for international availability, all versions of the Surface Pro 3 will make its way to 26 additional countries by the end of August.
Regardless of which model you go for, the Surface Pro 3 packs a 12-inch 2160 x 1440 pixel display and includes an Intel HD Graphics 4400 GPU. We've compared the Surface Pro 3 to several of its peers, including the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro, the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display, and its main competition, the MacBook Air.
