Did you buy Glass? If not, you'll have to wait. Google's limited-time public sale of its high-tech specs has now closed.

"Welcome to our new Explorers! All spots in the Explorer Program have been claimed for now, but if you missed it this time, don't worry. We'll be trying new ways to expand the Explorer program in the future. You can sign up below to stay updated. That's all for now, folks," reads a note on the Glass Google+ page.

Google did not specify how many pairs of Glass it sold. The sale kicked off at 9 a.m. ET on Tuesday, and allowed any U.S.-based adult to throw down $1,500 in exchange for their very own pair of futuristic specs and a spot in the Explorer program.

Among the first versions of Glass to go were the white (Cotton) Glass headsets, which were sold out within hours of the sale's start. "Wow, what a morning! We're happy to see so many new faces (and frames) in the Explorer Program," the Glass team wrote in a Google+ post.

The Glass sales page appears to still be up and running, allowing shoppers to choose their favorite color (besides white), pick out a frame, and add one headset to the cart. We did not complete a sale to see if the purchase would go through; the main Glass page has a message saying the Explorer program is now full.

Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Whether you picked out your new headset this week, or have been sporting Glass since the Explorer program began, the specs will get a boost from this week's software update. The space-age specs will now run Android 4.4 KitKat, which includes a better battery life and more reliability. Version 2.0 also comes with new photo bundles and the ability to send pictures in Hangout messages. Support for video calls, however, has been dropped.
